Your question’s really funny to me actually, I remember last year up to maaaybe last June a lot of people were wondering and debating on if Luka had a dick or was castrated in the Japanese side of the fandom, so I was surprised to see it again.

As for me… personally I don’t think he’s castrated in canon, and I would prefer if luka was sterile (because im not interested in any thoughts of pregnancy or children with most of my pairings and I also still want luka to stroke his shit thinking of her) but since he can have a daughter with hyuna, he’s not (at least in the modern au)—but options, options! We have a lot to think about because there are so many ways sterilization can work

there are four ways of sterilizing luka: physical castration (orchiectomy or complete nullification), chemical castration, a vasectomy, and prostate removal 

Luka being castrated is really interesting to think about, considering Luka’s forced exposure and implied sexual exploitation, and the way that it’s implied that in the canon universe that Luka still is unable to choose his own clothes even as a 30 year old. I think Luka grips onto his romantic desire and sexual desire for hyuna very strongly as those are things he actively chooses to indulge in—those feelings, as unmarketable and dirty as they are, are his and his alone. While Luka could still have sex with hyuna (in a previous qna it was said that Luka expresses dominance with service, though the context was different, and that later shows in how Luka wants to ‘keep hyuna in his arms’ and tend to her in a reversal of the roles from when they where young) I think it would be uniquely frustrating for him because despite everything Luka really has very ‘average’ wants and seeks to excel in everything that he’s given an example of. If he has his genitalia removed, his sex drive would go down (though it’s debatable if his desire would go down), however it would be a deviation from the relationships that are touted in books and the media he studies, and it might upset him if he can’t act out that ‘common’ aspect of a relationship with hyuna.

Because Luka’s a singer and people loved his voice as a child, it wouldn’t surprise me if Heperu would want to make him a castrati in order to preserve his voice, though luka canonly (and surprisingly to the aliens, who included his voice changing in their disaster plans for his health as it directly was a factor in hyunwoo’s death) went through a natural puberty, which seemed to be marked by his emotionally instability and anxiety (wiege where he’s full on screaming and sobbing when hyunwoo tries to pull Hyuna away from him) and increased desire for affection from hyuna (self explanatory), both as self assurance to reconfirm himself and because he was romantically fixated on her—so if there was any castration involved, it would probably need to be after his voice settles (and well, if it happened prior to puberty he probably wouldve been taller regardless of his malnutrition). If they had neutered him, it probably would’ve been later on, considering that the aliens can use blood samples for breeding even though physical breeding has been a canon fact since 2024.

there’s a lot of ‘Heperu gets rid of his dick because it looks like him and Heperu has low self esteem’, but because of what I mentioned before, I don’t think it would make much sense to castrate luka after puberty—he’s well behaved, doesn’t act out towards the aliens, and his singing was still the best even after his voice changed. while the aesthetics of A Dick may vary, and while Heperu may have wanted to forcefully control Luka’s developmental period to craft a pet to his liking, I think if he had to go through the effort of physically removing it (like how his clones don’t have genitalia) that he just wouldn’t give luka one in the first place and manually messed with his hormones. Luka’s heart surgery scars and his apoxia are used as charm points, canonly, for his work. but those were only adapted to him after they realized he had issues that could not be rectified. 

I don’t think that a sexual nullification of his body would add much benefit either due to the amount of ways of Luka’s body can be objectified then being limited or due to added complications of castration in human men (potential osteoporosis and poor muscle mass on a body that already suffers with other issues+weight gain when luka is already being put in a calorie deficit to keep his shape) would need to put him on a hormone treatment anyway to keep him healthy (which would also need to be played with a bit so his emotions aren’t uncontrollable either, and luka is already the pinnacle of a well behaved pet, so personally I wouldn’t mess with that either)

in my intersex headcanons, luka doesn’t have a proper prostate or seminal vesicles to support the production of good sperm or properly direct it as it would either be too thick or his sperm would get burned by his urine (but doesn’t fully sterilize him, so in-vitro or assisted fertilization is still an option) so I think if luka was just a normal cis man (either intersex or dyadic) they’d either just take his prostate or give him a vasectomy if they wanted to sterilize him, since they have other ways of reproducing him and could also still receive sperm even if his ejaculate itself isn’t viable.
